  • Tochigi Prefecture offers many great tourist spots with an easy access from the Tokyo Metropolitan area.
Local Information

In Nikko City, there are scenic places such as Lake Chuzenji and also historical landmarks like Nikko Toshogu Shrine. In Nasushiobara City, there is a famous hot spring resort, Nasu resort. The two Shinto shrines (the Toshogu and the Futarasan-jinja) and a Buddhist temple (the Rinnoji) in Nikko City are registered as World Heritage Sites. The city also offers stunning nature such as Kegon Waterfalls which is named as one of the three most beautiful waterfalls in Japan. Lake Chuzenji is also a beautiful tourist spot surrounded by mountains. Tochigi is blessed with hot springs such as Kinugawa and Shiobara. Visitors can enjoy refreshing scenery in Nasu where there are a vast dairy farm land and many theme parks. Tochigi has many popular food and cuisine as well. Tochiotome and Skyberry are the types of strawberries harvested in the prefecture and very famous. Utsunomiya, the capital of Tochigi, is known as “the Town of Gyoza”.
